About the Author and the Blog

The author of this blog is a guy who spends too much time gazing at his navel and pondering the meaning of his life.  Currently in the middle of attaining a Masters of Theology degree from Dallas Seminary, most thoughts discussed on this blog are somehow related to education, theology, preparation for ministry and leadership.  Sometimes there are joys to reflect on and at other times there are struggles that need to be revealed and dealt with.  Not all struggles end quickly though, and part of the function for writing is a release and purging of emotion, so have patience with him.

Frankly, I am a flawed and broken individual who sometimes get a little too cynical about people and about the nature of everyday life.  It is the ‘disappointing’ malaise of life that bothers me most and seems to drive me toward a relentless search of seeing my ideals become reality.  Part of this process involves the catharsis of exploring my thoughts in writing, and so here we are.  You should also know that I sometimes question whether God is truly involved in my life and in the lives of those I love.  I know what the Scriptures say, but it doesn’t always make it easy to believe.  Part of this blog’s purpose is to show others that persevering in the Christian faith has nothing to do with my ability to “keep it together,” but everything to do with putting myself in the Lord’s hand and praying for my daily bread.

Despite my problems, I’m confronted with the reality that if God exists (and I believe He does), the only way we’d know would be if He chose to reveal Himself.  Because there are good reasons to believe that He has done so through His creation and through His Scripture, I have chosen (by the grace of God and by no merit of my own) to believe in the One that Scripture tells me about, namely Jesus Christ.  One part of my purpose on this earth, I’ve determined, is to devote my life to understanding those Scriptures with the goal of learning the requirements involved with being His follower.

I am redeemed, forgiven and cleansed because of Christ’s death and resurrection.  I am empowered by the Holy Spirit to pursue righteousness while awaiting the day when the Lord returns and I am freed from the bondage of my flesh.  Till then, I will write and share with everyone my struggle in the hope that you might choose to share the very same thing with me.  His grace will definitely be sufficient for both of us.
